Dear Members and Friends of English Theatre Milan,

• we are happy to invite you to the final evening of the 1^st semester of English Theatre Milan’s activities in 2025. This is scheduled on Friday 27 June starting at 8:00 pm. The meeting includes 2 distinct parts:
  Annual General Meeting, (see attachment), for which we kindly ask you to confirm your attendance, whether in person or by proxy. In addition to examining the 2024 Financial Statement and the 2025 Budget, we will discuss the programme of our activities. If you are an E.T.M. Member, you can vote, as well as applying to be a member of the Board of Directors.
• Following the AGM, we’ll be presenting our activities for the first part of the 2025\2026 season. Most of our plays are suitable for a general audience as well as secondary school students. While enjoying a drink, you’ll hear more about:

Shakespeare’s Greatest Hits starts in London in 1613 when a terrible fire burnt down Shakespeare’s Globe Theatre. Three players escape and end up in Milan. They’re hungry and penniless, so to survive, they decide to perform fragments of Romeo and Juliet, Hamlet and The Tempest. We are planning a reading/performance of a couple of scenes. Cast members include: Simone Buzzi, Giulia Gibbon, Kizzy Kaye, Candice Lam, Irene Panni, Nicholas Redding, Madeline Wolf.

Romeo And Juliet in Greencity 2, a reduced version of Romeo and Juliet in Greencity, which we performed in Milan, at the Ortimisti and All Saints’ Church in May and at the Pacta Theatre in June. The play offers you a chance to imagine what a city could still be, even today, if only we could stop the violence and disorder and reconnect with nature.

Romeo Montague. Innocent or Guilty?  We would like to bring this courtroom play to your school. A young Romeo Montague is on trial for Tybalt’s murder; expect some unexpected plot twists. A special workshop allows students to learn more about juvenile law and get involved in the performance. 

Alice Underwater, an out-of-breath play by Sal Cabras: Alice visits the wonders of the underwater world, guided by Toad (who could he be?). Lots of adventure, lots of dreams, lots of music (especially the Beatles). Alice takes part in a conference that discusses the topic: Is there life beyond the water? This ends up in a brawl-and-escape…

The cast includes a teenage Alice, Toad (a toad), a hostess-fish,

Two Sword-fish Policemen, a Carpenter Saw-fish, Painter (a She-fish artist), BigNose Sevengill, Turbot, Stockfish, Lobster, Smoking Herring (she- and he-scientists), Morey, the Ogre, then the She-dolphin Edwige (a yellow submarine cab driver).

ETM is looking for a Director and Assistants, Costume and Set-designers, Lighting technicians… What will your role be?

A Stroll in Shakespeare’s Milan. This site-specific promenade performance explores links between Shakespeare, ‘The Tempest and historic Milan.

Cari soci  e amici di English Theatre Milan, siamo felici di invitarvi alla serata conclusiva del 1° semestre 2025 delle attività dell’Associazione, che si svolgerà il 27.06.2025 a partire dalle ore 20:00. L’incontro prevede 2 parti distinte:

• ASSEMBLEA ANNUALE 2024, in seconda convocazione (vedi allegato), per la qual cosa vi chiediamo gentilmente di confermare la presenza, tanto che vogliate esserci persona che per delega. Oltre a esaminare il Bilancio 2024 e il Preventivo 2025, avrà luogo una discussione sul programma delle attività. Se per quella data sarete già Soci, potrete votare sul Bilancio, nonché candidarvi a far parte del Consiglio Direttivo.
• COSA BOLLE IN PENTOLA? Dopo l’Assemblea Generale Annuale, faremo un bilancio delle nostre attività per la prima parte dell’anno, presentando anche il programma della stagione 2025/26.. La maggior parte dei nostri spettacoli è adatta sia a un pubblico generico che agli studenti delle scuole secondarie. Mentre sorseggiate un drink, ne saprete di più:
• Shakespeare’s Greatest Hits: Londra1613, un terribile incendio distrugge il Globe Theatre di Shakespeare. Ma tre attori fuggono e finiscono rocambolescamente, guarda caso, proprio a Milano: affamati e senza un soldo, per sopravvivere decidono di mettere in scena frammenti di Romeo and Juliet, di Amleto e de La Tempesta.

Per la serata del 27 giugno abbiamo in programma la lettura agita di un paio di scene. Il Cast: Simone Buzzi, Giulia Gibbon, Kizzy Kaye, Candice Lam, Irene Panni, Nicholas Redding, Madeline Wolf.

• Romeo And Juliet in Greencity 2, versione ridotta del lavoro messo in scena a maggio al Giardino degli Ortimisti e nel All Saints’ Church, e a giugno al Teatro Pacta. Lo spettacolo riesce a farci immaginare cosa potrebbe essere una città, anche oggi, se solo riuscissimo a fermare violenza e disordine, e a riconnetterci con la natura.
• Romeo Montague. Innocent or Guilty? Aspettatevi colpi di scena a ripetizione: il giovane Romeo Montague è sotto processo per l’omicidio di Tybalt. Si tratta di un courtroom play concepito in particolare per le scuole e viene preparato con uno speciale laboratorio cui partecipano gli studenti, che quindi approfondiscono elementi di diritto minorile e partecipano attivamente alla rappresentazione insieme a 3 attori professionisti.
• Alice Underwater, un’opera teatrale dal ritmo serratissimo di Sal Cabras: Alice visita le meraviglie del mondo sottomarino, guidata da Toad (chi sarà mai?). Tante avventure, tanti sogni, tanta musica (soprattutto i Beatles). Alice partecipa a una conferenza che affronta il tema chiaramente esistenziale: c’è vita fuori dall’acqua? La discussione si conclude con una rissa, una fuga…

Il Cast include la teenager Alice, Toad (un rospo), una pesce-hostess,

due poliziotti pesce-spada, un pesce-sega falegname, una pesce-artista, e poi BigNose Sevengill, Turbot, Stockfish, Lobster, Smoking Herring (scienziati), l’orchessa Morey, la delfina Edwige (tassista di un sottomarino giallo…).

Oltre agli attori, entrano nel Cast ETM: regista e assistenti, costumisti e scenografi, tecnici delle luci… Quale sarà il tuo ruolo?

• A Stroll in Shakespeare’s Milan. Tipica performance site-specific, esplora le connessioni tra Shakespeare, “La Tempesta” e la Milano rinascimentale: ha già debuttato, ma la ri-presentiamo..
